Springfield, MO - Prime, inc. celebrated Truck Driver Appreciation Week at its annual Company Picnic on August 30, 2008.  One highlight of the event was the company’s Truck Driving Championships, with a total of 67 participants. According to Don Lacy, Prime’s director of safety, “This event qualifies our drivers to compete in the State competition each year.  We believe it gives them a chance to face real competition and be better prepared for it.”  The course is set to ATA standards using the exact rules for timing and scoring as State and National competitions. Lacy added, “It simulates problems they face in everyday driving.  It’s a competition of precision driving.”  The top ten in scoring will represent the company at the State driving competition held in 2009.

Placing in the top three were:  Thomas Miller, first; William Stanford, second and Duane Grimme, third.  Each received a trophy to honor their accomplishment.

The Pride and Polish contest was also held at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center, which honors those drivers who, according Lacy, “Go the extra mile in caring for their truck.  A well-maintained truck represents a safe truck.”  All winners received a trophy and cash prize.

Awarded were:
Peoples Choice award and first place, $1,000 - Killis Purnell
First place, company truck division, $500 - Thomas Carroll
Second place, $300 - Thomas Griswold
Third place, $250 - Kevin Moore.

In addition to awarding their drivers, Prime holds the annual event to bring families together for a fun-filled day.
